Who We Are
Since 1988, Doberman Rescue Unlimited, Inc. (DRU) has been a safe haven for abused, abandoned, and unwanted Dobermans. Our mission is rooted in compassion—to provide these loyal and intelligent dogs with the second chances they deserve by placing them in safe, loving homes where they can finally thrive.
Beyond rescue and rehabilitation, we are deeply committed to educating the public about the Doberman breed and promoting responsible, humane animal care.
Over the years, DRU has helped nearly 3,500 Dobermans find hope and healing across New England and beyond. At any given time, we care for more than 30 dogs who are waiting for their next chapter.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, DRU depends entirely on the kindness of our supporters—through donations, memberships, and fundraising efforts—to continue our life-saving work.

Meet Our Executive Director
Michelle Cooper
Michelle began her career in animal service in 2007 as an animal control officer for Danville NH, and has been a sworn officer there since 2009. Michelle has several years experience in non-profit shelter management and was previously employed by the New Hampshire SPCA where she managed their farm program. In addition to animal service and law enforcement, Michelle has extensive experience in finance, marketing and sales.
As Executive Director of DRU, Michelle will have operational responsibility for all staff, volunteers, programs, and execution of our mission. She will serve as the main public contact and spokesperson for our organization.
Michelle is an animal lover who is passionate about the DRU mission. She was raised on a working farm. She currently has three dogs, two cats, horses, goats and chickens on her family farm.
The board of directors is excited to start a new chapter in the life of our organization and look forward to Michelle’s contributions and leadership as DRU continues to grow.
