Meet Phoebe – She is an 8 1/2 yr old, red female, cropped and docked, on the smaller side weighing in the mid 50 lb range. Phoebe is very friendly with people and enjoys human contact and being in their company. Other dogs not so much, she can tolerate being around other dogs but doesn’t want to live with them. She prefers to be the only one getting the attention in the household and wants her people all to herself. She is a snuggler! She is a bit of a Houdini/escape artist. She can break out of a crate and jumps over a gate like a deer. If the gate or fence is to high she will try to go under. This behavior stems from a combination of separation anxiety and containment phobia, so basically she just wants to be with you and not alone. She was originally turned in to an animal control facility in CT after her owner passed away. She was adopted out and was in a home for a year and a half before being returned when another dog was introduced to the household, even though it was recommended she be the only dog, and it didn’t work out. She is now with us and needs to find a permanent stable home. She loves the snow, her stuffed teddy bear, nice soft beds (not a shredder), and is a good size doberman for the lap dog she wants to be. ... See MoreSee Less

SAMPSON – 3 1/2 year old male that came to us because he had a history of eating things that he wasn’t supposed to, which in turn led to some obstruction surgeries. That’s the only negative thing to report on this guy, although it’s a biggie! He is the dog at the shelter that all the other dogs love to play with. He can be buddied up with just about anyone and really enjoys his time running and playing in the yard. In the summer he loves jumping in and out of the kiddie pools, and he does love toys (and can have them as long as it is supervised). He is very friendly and outgoing, loves affection and attention, and also enjoys his long walks. He is in need of a home that can keep him safe from himself. He is very social, so not a dog that would like to be left alone or unsupervised for long periods. ... See MoreSee Less
